RACK REVIVAL
The Hello Collection
Some projects begin with a sketch. Others begin with a memory.
Our Rack Revival collaboration with FJDP started with a small exhibition in the De Wet Centre Courtyard. The purpose of the three-day project was to explore the important conversation around recycling, up-cycling and seeing fashion a little differently.
For this project, Julie revisited a small collection of special yarns that had been carefully kept and passed down by her late gran. Rich with nostalgia and personal history, these treasured yarns inspired the idea of creating something meaningful that could carry a story forward.
The Hello Collection is, in many ways, a greeting across generations. A hello to the memories held within these yarns. A hello to the hands that carefully crafted each piece. A hello to slower, more thoughtful fashion, and to the stories that connect us through the things we make and keep.
The result is a collection that feels both old and new: a celebration of slow making, treasured memories and the enduring value of things created by hand.
A small batch of 5 scarves, each carrying a story of its own.
